Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed the importance of increasing cooperation between Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members, speaking at the ASEAN-Russia Ministerial Meeting in Bangkok on Wednesday.
“We are observing the strengthening of practical cooperation, we are opening new promising areas for cooperation and developing joined projects,” said the Russian diplomat.
Lavrov stated that he hopes to discuss additional measures to boost political and economic cooperation between the Southeast Asian bloc and Russia during the ASEAN summit.
The 52nd ASEAN Foreign Ministers' meeting is attended by representatives from more than 30 countries, including ASEAN member states, ASEAN dialogue partners, ARF non-dialogue partner members and other guests.
During the summit the participants are expected to discuss various topics including connectivity, sustainability, and environmental and financial inclusion among ASEAN states. The US-North Korean issue and the South China Sea conflict are also reportedly expected to be addressed during the meeting held between July 29 - August 3.
