In today's video, we're highlighting a typical example of the scare-mongering and disinformation being made available to citizens of both the UK and Italy, which have a direct bearing on the lifestyle of expats and other UK visitors in Italy.
Back to the Brexit and Italy article, which goes on to say: "A No-Deal Brexit would cause the loss of 1.2 million jobs across Europe, including 139,140 in Italy, according to a newly-released study by Belgium's Leuven University.”
The impact study, commissioned by the Belgian government, showed that the UK leaving the EU without an agreement would cause major job losses in every country in Europe.
"France would lose 141,320 jobs while Germany would suffer a massive 291,930 redundancies", the study said.
The question for you to consider is this - is the article credible?
Well, the report on which it's based on originates via the Belgium government and one of Belgium's universities, so you can hardly say it's a balanced report, considering Belgium's pro-EU stance.
And then you have to wonder how they can be so precise in the figures they're using.
For heaven's sake - 139, 140 job losses will happen in Italy as a consequence of Brexit?
Really?
Is this report based on biased statistical analysis and extrapolations to get to this figure, or is there a definitive list of so-called job losses for business up and down Italy that adds up to this figure?
Are you not convinced that this is Project Fear expanding into Italy, trying to panic the British expat community, as well as UK citizens considering working and studying in Italy over the coming months?
Okay, then this following comment from the same article should help make up your mind: "Of course the country expected to suffer the most is the UK, where more than 500,000 jobs would be lost - up to 5% of its total workforce..."
Now, I ask you, what on earth are they talking about?
This is just utter rubbish, and again you have to ask yourself where do these figures come from!?
From the sky, one can only imagine.
Firstly, no one knows exactly what the economic outlook will look like post-Brexit (if Brexit does take place).
However, what can be said is that the UK economy will....
