California Approves Bill To Treat Workers Like Employees

California Approves Bill To Treat Workers Like Employees California approved a bill that forces companies like Uber, Lyft and other to treat workers as employees and not independent contractors. According to Business Insider, the bill could hurt their businesses and change the ride-sharing industry. Assembly Bill 5 creates a three-part test to determine work status as written in a recent court decision. The bill was signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, who previously said tech companies are eroding worker’s basic protections. Newsom said the bill is “landmark legislation for workers and our economy.”
