Over 40 people from Garo Hills suffering from an unknown skin ailment are currently at the GMCH in Guwahati, where their condition is being observed by the doctors. Northeast Live has learnt that the people are suffering from multiple skin ailments which can be divided into at least four categories.
Doctors at the GMCH in Guwahati informed that while some of the ailments were curable, for others the patients have to take medication for a prolonged period.
While the state health department has downplayed the entire situation, according to an NGO working closely with the affected people, nothing much has been done at the local level to address the plight of these people.
