On Wednesday September 18th 2019 at approximately 5:45pm Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of shots fired near a car dealership on the south side. Upon arrival they were informed it was a drive by shooting and were given a description of the vehicle. Another officer called in that he has spotted the vehicle nearby and begins pursuing the vehicle. Other officers including Sgt. Taylor of the LAPD and Ofc. Fox from the CHP attach to the chase. The pursuit then leaves the residential streets and the suspect gets on the Olympic Fwy followed by the La Puerta Fwy where the incident occurred. The suspect jumped out of their vehicle on the La Puerta Fwy by the Dutch London St. Exit and Ofc. Fox from the CHP stuck and killed the suspect with his vehicle. The suspect vehicle was searched and officers found a fully loaded AR-15 inside the vehicle with 3 loaded magazines. All dashcam footage was recovered from all patrol vehicles involved in the pursuit as well as written and verbal statements from the officers involved.

After an investigation Ofc. Fox was found not guilty of vehicular manslaughter or homicide. The suspect jumped from their vehicle so close to Ofc. Fox that his vehicle had no time to stop or go around. Investigators determined that the suspect attempted a suicide by cop.

All officers where cleared and released back to full duty.
