This flam drum lesson breaks down drum phrasing with "Fliddles." What's a fliddle? It's essentially a diddle with a flam at the same time. This is sometimes referred to as a "cheese." Although for this drum lesson I am not using it in the typical cheese application. This is something you see everyone from the likes of Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Vinnie Colaiuta & Steve Gadd... to John Bonham, Buddy Rich, and Neil Peart, use in their drumming... To add flams to your drum solo phrasing I suggest building a sticking system using the accent groupings... (both even and odd note groupings). This is a lot of fun and is a gateway to creating some very cool drum phrasing and music on the drums.
