Neil was forced to pull out of the show due to injury, meaning Alex Scott was left in need of a partner and show bosses picked Kevin Clifton to step in. Kevin had originally been partnered with Anneka Rice on the series, but they were the second couple to be voted off of the show. Gorka, meanwhile, has only featured in the group dances this time round and fans were left pretty miffed when he wasn’t chosen to be Neil’s replacement. They argued he should have been picked instead of Kevin, as Kevin has already had his chance to dance with a celebrity this series. And now it seems Gorka is in agreement with Strictly viewers, as he’s been busy retweeting multiple messages from fans calling out producers for picking Kevin. One tweet read: ‘ Another said: ‘deserved it not Kevin who has already had a partner this year #StrictlyComeDancing.’ Awks. Strictly host Claudia Winkleman revealed Kevin would be stepping in and said on Saturday night’s show: ‘You may have also noticed Neil is missing this evening. ‘Now unfortunately he also suffered an injury earlier today and is unable to dance tonight. But the brilliant Kevin will be stepping in to perform with Alex later in the show.’ Kevin, meanwhile, revealed he only had a couple of hours notice to learn Alex and Neil’s routine. He said: ‘She’s been guiding me through the routine and that’s real test for her so I will do my best for you and for Neil.’ Of his brief re-addition to the competition, Kevin joked: ‘Well, I’ve got to get in the final one way or another, haven’t I? But this is not me, this is about Alex and she is so amazing.’ Strictly Come Dancing continues Sunday night on BBC One.
