UPS has won the first broad approval for drone delivery from the FAA. The certification gives UPS the ability to carry cargo heavier than 55 pounds, and it can also fly at night. The shipper plans to use the approval to deliver packages to hospitals at first. It will have the potential to expand to other services in the future. Amazon, Uber and Google's parent Alphabet are all racing to ramp up drone deliveries as a way of delivering goods faster and cheaper.
