Twists is a quick, easy and versatile hairstyle for naturally curly hair. However, sometimes unraveling the twists can pose some tangles and breakage of the hair if proper precautions aren’t instituted. In this video, I share some tips for preventing tangles that may occur with styling the hair in twists. Preventing knots and tangles at the end of twists:
- Apply cream to the ends of twists to moisturize and prevent drying of hair
- Tuck the ends away often in protective styles to prevent friction against clothing as that can cause tangles and drying of the ends which will lead to breakage
- Before unraveling, start from the bottom of the twist and make your way to the top. Begin unraveling by untwisting the hair in the opposite direction of how it was twisted and then make your way up until entire twist has been unraveled.
- Furthermore, avoid keeping hair in twists for more than 2 weeks as that can cause locking of the hair which causes breakage of the hair
