Maryland's Underfunded HBCUs & Their Supporters Rally Demanding $577M To Settle Lawsuit Students from Maryland's four Historically Black Colleges and Universities held a rally Wednesday afternoon in Annapolis calling for a resolution to a federal lawsuit.

They are urging Gov. Larry Hogan and state legislators to settle a federal lawsuit that dates back to 2006. The lawsuit says that the state has underfunded the institutions while developing programs at traditionally white schools that directly compete with and drain prospective students away from HBCUs.
