There is a network called RACSHA (Rise Against Child Sexual Harm & Abuse) that fights for this cause. The World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse is a day to promote a culture of prevention around the issue of violence against girls and boys. The key aim is to alert ALL of us that we need to play a more active role in this respect.
The World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse is commemorated every 19th November.
Child Sexual Abuse is a ‘silent’ crime. Unless adults are sensitive and alert to children’s messages, body languages and behaviour, we cannot prevent it.
• More than 90% of the perpetrators of this crime are known to the child (tutors, relatives, neighbours, etc).
• Boys are also victims of abuse but due to the socialization process, they hesitate to inform others. The statistics available from India show very high occurrence of Sexual Abuse in children but there is a significant lack of awareness about it. So, our aim today is to shed some light on this evil, so that children can live without fear.
