Several international organizations (including the United Nations and Amnesty International), including Pakistan, China and Turkey, declared the Indian move illegal.
At the request of Pakistan, the UN Security Council also had an emergency meeting in which India demanded curtailment of human rights violations and curfew curbs in occupied Kashmir.
