Despite equipping Punjab police with the latest technology, incidents of rape and murder of women in the province are on the rise.



According to Punjab police records, more than 15,000 cases of torture, rape, murder and acid-throwing have been reported in these five years.





According to police records, 2 thousand 281 cases of sexual abuse were reported in 2014, 2 6 618 in 2015 and 2 7 746 cases in 2016.





Similarly, in 2017, 2 thousand 998 cases of rape and murder were registered in different police stations in 2018.





According to the records, in the 10 months of 2019, 3,387 incidents of sexual abuse were reported while 149 women were brutally killed in honor, 36 incidents of acid throwing were also reported during the same period.
