Are Rolex AD's breaking the law over Warranty card retention?

Rolex dealers across the EU may be breaking the law when retaining your warranty card and therefore your personal data. Under GDPR it appears they need to declare a "lawful reason" for retaining part of your newly titled goods? Or have I missed something?
