National Book Award finalist Laila Lalami's latest work of fiction, “The Other Americans,” explores the timely and fraught issues of immigration and identity through the personal experiences of characters who all know how it feels to be on the outside of a group. Jeffrey Brown caught up with Lalami at the Miami Book Festival to discuss how much her own immigration story shaped this one.
