New Delhi Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, flagged off ‘Canteen Van For CP Reserve Staff’ today at New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, Delhi. An Eicher 25 seater mini bus has been got fabricated by Delhi Armed Police to serve the purpose of Mobile Canteen for CP Reserve staff. There are 28 CP Reserve coys including 2 female coys with their bases at various locations across the city. These bases include Khajuri Khas, New Police Lines, MS Park, Narela, Tilak Marg, Parliament Street, Kalyan Puri, Pitam Pura, Dwarka, Kalkaji, Malviya Nagar, Delhi Cantt and Teen Murti Lines. CP Reserve companies serve as a backup and also to augment the efforts of local police in law and order management. They are deployed in various law and order situations like riots, crowd management, religious gatherings, various festivals, political rallies, area domination, patrolling in street crime prone areas, inter-state borders etc. The nature of duty of CP Reserve staff is such that in situations of continuous and prolonged law and order problems, they need to put in protracted hours of duty. As a welfare measure, food articles, snacks, aerated water, soft drinks etc will be carried by the Mobile CPR Canteen to their places of duty so that the staff is served with eatables while on duty. This is not only a welfare measure but it will also go a long way in boosting their morale while increasing their professional efficiency on duty. The major cause of morbidity in police personnel is that they are unable to take meals on time due to exigencies of duty. Police personnel often end-up eating unhygienic street food while on long hours of duty. To take care of all these factors, a new concept of serving the food to police personnel on their point of duty through Mobile Canteen has been conceptualized.
The Mobile Canteen has been made out of an Eicher mini bus and is equipped with various gadgets. These gadgets include refrigerator, ambient food cabinet for eatables, hot food cabinet, table with sink unit, water dispenser both hot and cold, beverage table with waste disposal mechanism, tea urn, food storage unit, over roof water tank, 7 KVA generator set, air conditioner, inverter, two gas burners with LPG cylinder, sitting for two persons, exhaust fan/chimney, service window, retractable water proof side roof, microwave and removable metallic podium below service window for staff. The Mobile Van will be manned by one Incharge of upper subordinate rank, one Assistant lower subordinate rank staff and a driver. The Incharge of Mobile CPR Canteen will carry a mobile phone on which Company Commanders will make request for delivery of food articles at required point where CP Reserve is deployed. The food articles and other snacks will be prepared in Central Mess and Central Canteen, New Police Lines and will be served to police personnel at highly subsidized rates on no profit no loss basis. The Mobile Canteen Van is registered with Department of Food Safety under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The wet canteen from where this Mobile Canteen Van will procure eatables/beverages is also registered under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The new modified Anti-Riot equipment kit that is worn by CPR personnel during riotous situations will also be on display by a marching contingent drawn out of CPR personnel.
This Mobile Canteen for CP Reserve staff is being launched as a pilot project and an impact assessment will be carried out by senior officers after 3 months after taking feedback from CP Reserve staff. If the impact assessment report is positive and encouraging, this Mobile Canteen facility would be extended to other units of Delhi Police including District Police, Traffic Police, Police Control Room etc.
Senior officers including Shri Muktesh Chander, Spl.CP/OPS, Shri Sunil Kr. Gautam, SPL. CP /HQ, Shri Sanjay Singh, Spl.CP Transport & Licencing, Smt. Nuzhat Hassan, Spl.
