UNR student miraculously recovers from a severe fall thanks to quick surgery and physical therapy at Renown's Rehabilitation Hospital. In the fall of 2019, sophomore commuter science major, Matt Checchi, fell three stories from his apartment. Luckily a neighbor found him and he was rushed by ambulance to Renown Regional Medical Center. Matt underwent a 6 hour surgery on his back. Then he was transported to Renown Rehabilitation Hospital for intense therapy.
"Luckily, Matt had an incomplete injury. He had a 50 to 60% chance of significant recovery," says Physiologist, Tim Pence, DO. With the support of family and fellow students, Matt worked extremely hard to walk again.
