‘We are united’: Muslim protesters continue to rally against citizenship law in India

‘We are united’: Muslim protesters continue to rally against citizenship law in India On Monday, Muslims across India protested against a new citizenship law which they said was discriminatory. Tens of thousands of Hindus also joined the demonstrations to help dispel the notion that the protests are just a Muslim issue.

At least 21 people have died in the protests against the citizenship law, which gives non-Muslim minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who fled to India before 2015 a pathway to citizenship. It does not apply to Muslims.
