Greta Thunberg makes 'prudent decision' to trademark name

Greta Thunberg makes 'prudent decision' to trademark name Sky News contributor Nicholas Reece says Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has just done a "prudent thing" by seeking to trademark her name.

Teen climate activist Greta Thunberg has applied to trademark her name and the "Fridays For Future" movement she founded in 2018.

"Unfortunately, there are still people who are trying to impersonate me or falsely claim that they represent me in order to communicate with high profile people,” she said.

The move will allow legal action against people or companies trying to use her name or the movement's which are not in line with its values.

"Look I think it’s a totally reasonable thing to do," Mr Reece told Sky News host Paul Murray.

Mr Reece said the Swedish teenager is just "making sure that she's got protection of copyright law" around her identity so people can't "misrepresent or misuse" her name.
