A political war has erupted over Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, better known as Veer Savarkar, after Congress distributed booklets on the Hindutva icon at a party event in Madhya Pradesh. Ranjit Savarkar, grandson of V.D Savarkar to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray to seek legal action against the Congress' booklet. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut targeted Congress over a Seva Dal booklet questioning Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar's credentials as a patriot and his reputation for valour. The booklet made sensational claims on Savarkar, questioning his 'Veer' title, alleging him of pelting stones at mosques at the age of 12, and even claimed that there were homosexual relations between him and Godse.
