Malaysia's Mahathir to remain as interim leader until new prime minister is appointed The Malaysian government was in limbo after Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad resigned on Feb 24. The ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition also lost its majority after a walkout by at least 11 MPs. The talk now is that a new ruling coalition is being formed. Dr Mahathir has met with the King, who accepted his resignation but insisted he stay on as interim leader.
