Coronavirus outbreak could mean a 'worldwide recession'

Coronavirus outbreak could mean a 'worldwide recession' Property markets are facing the risk of infection that could see a slump in sales as the global economy reels from the impact of coronavirus.

Economists are warning Australia could soon experience its first recession in nearly 30 years with the prime minister preparing a targeted response to prevent a possible economic downturn.

Chief Economist Nerida Conisbee told Sky News if the coronavirus turns out to be like “a bad flu epidemic then it will knock one percentage growth of world GDP”.

“If it goes a lot worse, if we do see a widespread epidemic across the world then we could go in a worldwide recession,” she said.
