Donald Trump declares he 'wiped out terrorists' in Afghanistan

Donald Trump declares he 'wiped out terrorists' in Afghanistan US President Donald Trump has told his “keep America great rally” in North Carolina that he will “finally begin to bring our amazing troops home” after signing a peace deal with the Taliban.

Mr Trump used the rally to declare America had “wiped out terrorists” in Afghanistan after having soldiers deployed for the last 19 years.

“After years of rebuilding foreign nations, we are finally rebuilding our nation and taking care of our own American citizens,” he said.

“And all of the things we’ve done, we’ve wiped out terrorists, we’ve done so much and you know what, we are 8000 miles away and you’ve got a lot of countries surrounding Afghanistan.

“The progress that was made was made possible by the extraordinary valour of our men and women in uniform.”
The US-Taliban agreement was signed on Saturday and means 8600 US and allied forces troops will be withdrawn within the first 135 days.

The withdrawal will be “conditions based”, according to the White House and could be stalled if incidents escalate tensions.
