The most talked about moment in the “F9” trailer involves a character whose death has been teased and tip-toed around since “The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift” was released back in 2006. Han Seoul-Oh, played by the magnificent Sung Kang, has earned his place as a main character in the Fast franchise, and we could even argue that the plot of the saga has revolved around him from the moment he was introduced. Han has become a part of a family, found love, experienced heartbreak, and driven more than his fair share of fast cars. Fans are so passionate about the high-speed hooligan that his seemingly official removal from the series in “Fast and Furious 6” spouted an entire fan movement calling for #JusticeForHan. Thankfully, director Justin Lin is just as obsessed with Han as all of us and he’s planning for the character to have a major comeback.
So what is it about Han that makes fans rush to his defense? How has this character had the power to not only shift an entire franchise’s timeline, but to also crossover from another movie? And will Deckard Shaw finally see some serious payback for eliminating a member of Dom’s family? Check out our video for a look back at Han’s history and how this character’s legacy will continue to shape the Fast franchise once “F9” comes to theatres on May 22, 2020.
