A great example would be, maybe you went out to eat with your cousin Connie and at the end of the meal she had trouble paying her bill. Maybe her credit card didn't work. And the next time you see your sister and you're talking about cousin Connie, you could say to your sister, "You know just between you and me, I think Connie is having money problems. I think that at the end of the meal she was having trouble paying the bill. So just between you and me, I think she might be having some money problems." So when you start a sentence with the phrase, "Just between you and me...", it means you're about to tell a secret.
