If we listen to the #parallel #compression track in isolation we can verify that it fulfills two functions: reinforcing kick-snare and bringing the sound of the room closer.
This chain was shared by Jordan Valeriote from Hardcore Music Studio on his heavy music tutorials and we find that it also works so great on rhythm machines and drum layers to the point where we have never worried about replacing it.
Apart from an HPF, this chain only contains dynamic restrictors: a VCA compressor and a pair of saturators which limit the signal and impart character as well.
