Director of the new Charlie's Angel movie, Elizabeth Banks, has had some interesting things to say on the trail leading up to its released. It has not seemed to do what was projected in terms of box office, but that shouldn't be surprising if you consider the emphasis she placed on this being for women.
They seemed to put all their eggs in the basket of female ticket holders.. and even women didn't take much interest in this movie. This was a critical error but this critical error has been made time and time again where people think you should see something simply because they targeted a minority group. Then, they act as if something is wrong with us for not wanting to see it.
I do not believe that men have some issue in seeing female-fronted action films. They just don't want to be insulted into seeing it.
