Chilean Police Set Off Tear Gas Canister in Response to Ongoing Protests

Chilean police set off a tear gas canister on a busy road near the Plaza Italia in Santiago on Wednesday November 6th, sending a thick stream of acrid gas billowing between buses and cars.

The Plaza Italia has been the focal point for three weeks of anti-government demonstrations.

Local sources suggest at least 23 people have been killed during the protests and more than 2,000 injured. 7,000 people have been arrested.
