IN this video, I explain the causes of suffering. I talk about the four noble truths, what they are and how they can help us transcend suffering once and for all. It's suffering that turned Gautam Siddhartha into Lord Buddha. But the suffering which brought about the awakening experience in Buddha's life wasn't his own. Before Buddha renounced the worldly life, he was doing really well for himself. There wasn't any problem in his life on the material level, he had everything that one could ask for in this material world. He was the prince. If he didn't have any problems in his life, what really turned him on the path of Spirituality? It was the suffering that he saw in people's lives, that shook his very being and made him take this big decision of leaving all material comforts in the pursuit of Spiritual Goal. For seven long years he worked hard, practiced severe spiritual disciplines, and finally experienced his Divine Infinite Nature. After getting enlightened, people starting coming to him for spiritual counsel, and then he gave the fourfold noble truth which talks about the nature of this phenomenal world and how can one transcend it. The Fourfold noble truth are: there is suffering, there is the cause of suffering, and this is cessation of suffering and there is path that leads to the cessation of suffering. So what is the first noble truth. It's, there is suffering. Yes, Buddha said, the world is nothing but a place of suffering. One Wise man said, your life is nothing but a long dream of suffering with occasional interludes of happiness. That's what Buddha said two thousand five hundred years back. So the first noble truth says, there is suffering. The second noble truth says, there is the cause of suffering. And what is that cause? It is your mind, it is your ego which is the cause of suffering. The suffering that is there in people's lives is self created. They are being run by their mind. Their mind is their master and they are its slaves, always dancing to the tune of this treacherous and tricky mind. They are being tortured by their own minds. They think that it's not possible to put an end to all this chaotic state that they are in. But I've some good news for them. It's very much possible to control the mind, it's very much possible to go beyond the mind. In fact that is the goal of Spiritual Life. And that's what the third noble truth of Buddha says. It says, there is cessation of suffering, which means it's very much possible to go beyond the mind and experience your Infinite Divine Nature.
