Meanwhile, Tourism Minister CT Ravi has clarified on casino row, the minister said he did not directly made proposal to allow casinos and had just commented about how the country was losing out on revenue as a large number of Indian tourists throng U.S, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and other parts and spend money there.

Senior Congress leader HK Patil has criticized state government's move to allow casinos and termed the move 'anti-social' and 'absurd'. HK Patil has further added that the government is trying to make people get addicted to gambling and called the government's move against Karnataka's culture and ethos. HK Patil has condemned Tourism Minister CT Ravi's proposal to allow casinos to attract tourists.

HK Patil said the government should not try to emulate Thailand to attract the tourists and tourism should be developed in the state by keeping Karnataka's culture and values in the mind

The tourism department said to have made a proposal to allow casinos in coastal Karnataka to lure Indian and foreign tourists who throng Goa, Sri Lanka, and other parts to play in casinos.
